“Cork Dork” Wine Tasting
(Main Floor)
Join Bianca Bosker – author of the New York Times bestseller Cork Dork, hailed as the “Kitchen Confidential of wine” – for an unorthodox wine tasting that will reveal the stories lurking in a glass of wine. An award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in The New Yorker and The Atlantic, Bianca traded her job as HuffPost’s executive tech editor for a job as a “cellar rat” – the lowest of the low in the wine world. Inspired by sommeliers who train their senses the way Olympians train their bodies, she plunged into underground blind tasting groups, Michelin-starred restaurants, high-stakes competitions, and neuroscientists’ labs as she trained to become a sommelier and uncover the very nature of taste. Drawing on Bianca’s experiences in cellars and fMRIs, she’ll explore how to hone our palates, savor wine with all our senses, and what we gain from moving beyond “mindulness” to “sensefulness.”
