Nantucket. Patrick, with his wife Lucy, came to Nantucket from Ireland in 1987 and quickly realized that this was where he wanted to be for the long term. After running the construction side of Bruce Killen Company for a number of years, he formed his own business, Hehir Group Builders. His deep understanding of construction on Nantucket and his solid relationships with town agencies has attracted loyal and discriminating homeowners to his business. Even though his business caters to new and existing structures, Patrick has a reverence for the old architecture and is aware of the importance of retaining the historical identity of the island. Patrick has been a trustees on Nantucket Ice and Nantucket Lighthouse School and has contributed time and expertise to many other island organizations. When he is not at work, Patrick and Lucy, and their two children enjoy the many riches the island has to offer. He looks forward to his tenure on the Nantucket Atheneum Board. And he recognizes the vital role the Atheneum plays on the island and believes that the many cultural and educational events offered at the library contributes to a sustainable year round community.

I’ve worked as a volunteer for the library for 10 years. I have never found a more pleasant, dedicated and professional group of people. The Atheneum and its staff are a treasure for this town.
