Ann Scott is the 9th Executive Director of the Nantucket Atheneum. She brings eighteen years of celebrated experience in Public Libraries, holding a variety of leadership roles in Collections, Programs, Outreach, Marketing and Administration. Ann has a passion for empowering library staff and stakeholders to offer community resources and experiences that inspire, educate, and even transform. She believes that libraries are the cornerstone of democracy, protecting basic freedoms, levelling the playing field, and fostering an informed electorate – and that no matter your age, color, background or status, the Atheneum is a place where you can feel that you belong. Ann is proud to lead our passionate, dedicated library staff who curate and circulate print and digital books and media; maintain our archival collection of historic artifacts, care for the regal 1847 building and garden, deliver more than 1,300 programs and classes a year to both seasonal and year-round members, and offer a variety of services that are particularly empowering for our island community. Ann earned her Masters in Library Science from Drexel University.
