Are Libby and Overdrive the same thing?
Overdrive and Libby are the same product but Overdrive is the online, browser-based version and Libby is the mobile app. You can login to Overdrive on your computer and use the Libby app on your smartphone, tablet, or mobile device. Your login information for both services is the same. Anything you check-out on Libby will be available on Overdrive and vice-versa.
What kind of materials are in the collection?
Adobe EPUB, Kindle, PDF, and Overdrive READ eBooks and eAudiobooks. Magazines are also available to read on-demand.
Is special software needed to read the eBooks on my computer?
Libby is a mobile app you can download on your smartphone, tablet, or mobile device for Android or iOS.
If you do not have a mobile device, you can read and listen through a browser using Libby’s parent company, Overdrive.
- Adobe Digital Editions is needed to download EPUB titles on a computer. Overdrive READ titles are read in a web browser.
Are apps available for my mobile device?
Yes, the Libby app for iOS and Android devices.
What devices are compatible with the collections?
A list of supported devices is available here.
Will I need my library card?
Yes and your PIN. Your card must be in good standing.
How many titles can be checked out at a time?
How long is the loan period?
7 or 21 days
Can I place holds on titles?
If a title is checked out, you must put your name on a waiting list for it.
Can titles be renewed?
Titles can be renewed once during the original checkout period if no one else is on the waiting list.
Can I accumulate overdue fines?
No overdue fines; the titles are returned automatically.
Can I recommend titles for purchase?
Yes, you may recommend five titles every two weeks.
