Nantucket Atheneum
Museum Pass Program
The Nantucket Atheneum is pleased to offer our library patrons reduced admission passes to the following Boston area museums: The Museum of Fine Arts, the New England Aquarium, The Boston Children’s Museum, the Museum of Science , as well as Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich , MA . The passes can be reserved up to 30 days in advance in person, by phone, or online with a valid Atheneum library card. Passes are limited and each museum has different restrictions and discounts. In the near future, local museums will be added to the program.
The museum pass program is made possible by the contributions of our generous donors, membership supporters, and patrons. Reserving a Museum Pass: Passes are available to anyone with a valid Nantucket Atheneum library card and may be reserved at the main circulation desk, the Weezie Library for Children, by calling (508) 228-1110, or on our website through the CLAMS catalog. Passes may be reserved up to 30 days prior to use.
Limits: A family may only reserve passes for one museum per day. Because of the high demand during Christmas, February and April school vacations, passes can be reserved for one museum per family per week.
Picking up Passes: Passes may be picked up at the Atheneum’s main circulation desk up to one week prior to the day they are to be used. Passes not picked up within 24 hours prior to the day they are to be used will become available to others on a first-come, first-served basis.
Returning Passes (Heritage Museums & Gardens only): Passes are to be returned to the main circulation desk on the day following their use. Passes returned after hours can be placed in the book drop in the envelope provided.
Fines and Penalties: The fine for late return is $10.00 per day per pass with a $30.00 maximum. If the pass is lost, there is a replacement charge of $25.00 per pass.
Cancellations: If you reserve a pass and your plans change, please call us at (508) 228-1110 to cancel, so that the pass can be used by someone else.
Please note – passes do not provide discounts for museum store purchases or parking, nor do they cover any special exhibit fees such as the Museum of Science Omni Theater, Planetarium or Laser Shows.
